Addendum to the post below, I have tried to lodge this 4 times. The error seems to be if you try to add more that one photo to the post.
I sent the text only post – OK
Edited the text post and added a photo – OK
Edited the text post and added a second photo – post disappeared.

March 17, 2022 at 11:58 am #1543Hi,
I’m not trying to front off potential improvements over the new site. I’m sure it has been a really unappreciated challenge of stopping problems and funding a new site and implementing a change over in just a few days. No criticism from me here.
What I would like to do is offer some suggestions on improving the site cosmetics. I find the current very difficult to read because of the mixtures of weak font colours and bold background colours. I’m many ways, it is very un-B&O.
Some armchair suggestions.
1. Use a slider/dropdown to move to different forums.
2. Pinned topics minimised. I did not like that 50% of the old (MK2) forum had pinned topics on does and don’ts.
3. The forum display on my PC occupies only 50% of the screen width. One of very few web pages that still do this.
4. Do we really need to know the number of topics and reply’s?
5. The Topic subject line (light blue on yellow/white background has really poor colour vibration
6. The Topic and started by is very cluttered. Suggest delete “started by”
7. Last post. Suggest that is keep to indicating minutes up to an hour. Hours up to a day and day up to a week.
8. Recommend closing topics after a given period of time.
9. Have topic, views, replies, last post, poster all on one line
Attached is a screen shot of Auralics forum page. Yes they are a commercial operation who can fund themselves a lot better than Beoworld ever could (Frankly, Bang & Olufsen should be doing it this way and should in my opinion morally contribute to Beoworld for the information provided).
However, it is clean, easy to navigate and easy to search. The forum page is very easy on my eyes.
All these notes are given as my opinion for improvement rather than chastising the job lots or people are actually doing to make Beoworld work.
Best regards

March 17, 2022 at 10:20 am #1534Hi plaing
I am sure that Keith has a better/the best explanation for this.
What you are looking for probably is from the old, now dead forum.
As far as I have understood, it is planned to launch the old forum as ‘read only’, when time comes…
Then a Google search should be possible again.
If you have an urgent question, you could make a new thread/topic here – maybe someone can help you.

March 17, 2022 at 9:19 am #1533Hi, I am having trouble finding threads which come up on Google searches. They repeatedly go to a dead page.
for example I am looking for a forum thread titled
“Beovision 14, Green light 4:00 a.m.”
that should be on this link
http://beosupport.com/forums/t/45433.aspx
Thanks
Can you help?
March 17, 2022 at 8:50 am #1532Hi Niko
You will have to go to:
General Discussion & Questions
and then scroll down to the bottom – use the arrow.
This IMHO is a bit awkward…..we need a button right at the top of the site, that will take us there!
But it can be done ????

March 16, 2022 at 10:26 pm #1525Hello,
I’m just wondering if I’m doing something wrong as I can’t find any way/option to start a new topic.
All the best,

March 16, 2022 at 8:13 am #1517New kinda math? 😛
March 15, 2022 at 11:21 am #1500Many posts have a contact link below the Avatar, but many don’t. Does that require some sort of setting…. Or is it linked to membership level?

March 14, 2022 at 6:12 pm #1440I think what I have added should do what you have suggested, but please test on various pages to make sure it works completely correctly.
Also, when you click reply it will take you to the bottom where you type the reply.
Anyway can members please test it in various forums and let me know what you think.
Keith..

Maybe you could create a button/link in the upper section, that lets you jump to the bottom of the site, where the ‘create a new topic’ box is located.
It takes a lot of scrolling to see that area.

March 14, 2022 at 1:41 pm #1413Thank you for your feedback.
Let me answer a couple of questions you raise:-
- Displaying bots right now is really to help me at present
- I use Firefox and I have not had any problems.
- Yes, I can increase the font size or make it bold in http://beosupport.com/forums
- In the future https://portal.beoworld.org will go away as it looks at the web site members list only.
- The site will be Google index as will the two Archived forums

Hi Keith,
I won’t be on my own saying that there are people there who are truly grateful for your time and help with keeping this group of B&O fans (fanatics?) talking to each other. Thanks for your time and effort to keep this platform alive and drag it into 21st century. I’m surprised that B&O itself wasn’t interested in donating few $$$ to help. I’m sure this page and this forum on its own generated substantial sale for them. Anyway.
Back to your question about testing of new interface. Here are my observations so far:
- Looks like on list of current on-line users you also display bots. Not sure if those robots are really there. Even if they are I’m not sure if there is a value in displaying information about them.
- I’m using Firefox on windows 10. So far page is rather stable.
- Just a small suggestion. Maybe on http://beosupport.com/forums/ make main forums in bold or somehow distinguish them from the others?
- Once you click on “Members Portal” it takes you to https://portal.beoworld.org/ I can log in with my credentials and see all my details. I don’t see any previous images or any old posts. I guess you didn’t port them yet but just want to mention it here.
- Not sure what search engine you will have available in this new forum but its quality will determine true value of this forum. If possible something closer to google search capabilities would be ideal.
So far that’s all from me. If this is of any value I can spent more time on the forum and provide more observations/suggestions if I have any.

Again thanks for great work and help,
HenrykMarch 14, 2022 at 8:33 am #1384With regards to the boxed layout of the forum this was/is very much the initial “Look & Feel” of the site. What was important was/is to get the core functionality working correctly and remains my priority.
I can and have changed the font size on the forum, but not too much otherwise you get word wrap. Currently the main item which limits the width is the heading which currently is a fixed size image, but when I have the time that will be changed.
The initial goal was to allow the forum to work on as many devices no matter there size which is not straight forward, so this is my initial compromise.
What you can do in the meantime which I do is use the browser display expansion in percentage which works well, see below in Firefox for example.

March 13, 2022 at 6:16 pm #1372Oups – this should have been a reply to the post of RaMaBo showing the site layout.
———
I agree on this.
Not nice when you use the – relatively small – screen of an iDevice.
The information in the sidebar is only viewable at the top of the thread.
Maybe it could be possible to place that information (partially) at the very top – respectively to widen the space fot the posts into the bar, where the bar/the space is not needed for these infos.
I know, it might be difficult from a layout perspective, but…..just thinking out loud.

Keith you really do a superb job here!

March 13, 2022 at 5:42 pm #1368OK, I have fixed the EDIT issue, I think..
March 13, 2022 at 5:07 pm #1365Okay, after editing a post once, the EDIT function doesn’t work correctly while the EDIT Button is still visible and clickable but the edited post won’t appear after submitting.
Tried to edited post #1363 a second time but submit wasn’t effective. Now there’s also no EDIT Button visible.
March 13, 2022 at 4:58 pm #1363Hmm, funny things happen while testing 🙂
I know i saw the EDIT button before, but now i can’t edit my last posting.
Even restarting the browser and reloading the page didn’t help.
After replying to my previos post suddenly the EDIT button reappears ??
Just reediting for test purpose 🙂
