How about naming BOTH of them “Archived Forum thru <mm/yyyy>” or “Archived Forum <m1/yyy1> thru <m2/yyy2>” so you’re presenting a bit of information, in addition to “not the current one”?  (Archived == “previous” and “before the previous”… ¿huh?)

I can certainly make it “Archived Forum MK2” or anything else.

          All suggestions welcomed..

          Keith..

            Hi Keith,

Not a problem but a suggestion: you’re in the way to publish the previous forum as read only under the name “Archived Forum 2”, right?

May I suggest to name it more B&O, like “Archived Forum MK2” or “Archived Forum NG”?
Obviously “Archived Forum C” would be too confusing…

            Just a pun.

              You said:-

“Last couple of days I had some problems logging in but seams to be OK now”

That was almost certainly me as I was updating all users account permissions to allow everyone to post images.

              You should be fine now.

I am currently working on the ability for all users to be able to use some inline HTML tags. You may have noticed in the “Testing” thread I added a post with inline HTML

              Keith..

Sorry, didn’t see that you needed to update per-user field(s).  Worked fine after you tweaked me just now, editing a message in the “Flash Your B&O” thread.  Thanks!

                    • Where do I see my member status? I should still be a gold member 😉 but I can’t see it.
Registered with the same username as on the old forum.
                    • Will there be any chance to access the precious information on the old forum? I saved many reference links on my computer.

Likewise both drag&drop and click to bring up the file browser give the “The image could not be uploaded. Please check that it is a valid JPEG, PNG, or GIF file and that the file size is no larger than 128 MB.” message.  From a Mac.  Using old Firefox 45.9.0 (that’s what “ESR” really means!-).  Via a squid proxy.  [Edit: FF 48.0.2, no proxy; still NG.  .jpg, .png, or .gif, all same.  Safari 13 Mac, no joy either.  Likewise a .jpg downloaded from the forum then attempted to re-upload, same NG.] (If any of that matters, couldn’t find the “other thread” mentioned, to hunt for work-arounds.) [Edit: As suggested, attaching a file to a message to be sent appears to work, but of course it isn’t trying to parse any image format.]

Worked fine now in the other thread. That was via file manager, so here’s another test using drag and drop.

(BTW, I like the ability to re-size the image once it’s in the post – very useful!)

Did you drag-n-drop the image or click to open the file browser?

I tried both Keith.  I have seen your message in the other thread and will await the outcome of the permissions problem.

As you can see the image is displayed without problems.

Thanks Keith – I just sent it to you using the ‘Contact’ link under your avatar and it seemed to be sent fine.  I was actually trying to start a new ‘What are you working on now’ thread under the Workbench sub-forum.

I am trying to upload photos but keep getting a message to say:

The image could not be uploaded. Please check that it is a valid JPEG, PNG, or GIF file and that the file size is no larger than 128 MB.

I have re-sized images to approx 400kB and they still won`t upload.  I am using chrome from a Win 10 desktop.

Any ideas where I am going wrong?

Welcome back everyone and a big thank you to Keith!

First post here since the New Beginning: I could not re-register my account from iPhone, latest OS, nor Mac, MacOS 12.2 Monterey, M1 processor, Safari 15.3.

In both cases I have received a Captcha error message.

I have finally made it by re-registering from the Mac but with a different browser, Chrome instead of Safari.

I am now writing from Mac + Safari, so the issue is only related to the re-registering process.

Again, thank you to Keith and everyone @Beoworld that it is making all this possible, despite of the difficulties!

                                          Hi,

I’m not trying to front off potential improvements over the new site. I’m sure it has been a really unappreciated challenge of stopping problems and funding a new site and implementing a change over in just a few days. No criticism from me here.

What I would like to do is offer some suggestions on improving the site cosmetics. I find the current very difficult to read because of the mixtures of weak font colours and bold background colours. I’m many ways, it is very un-B&O.

                                          Some armchair suggestions.

                                          1.      Use a slider/dropdown to move to different forums.

                                          2.      Pinned topics minimised. I did not like that 50% of the old (MK2) forum had pinned topics on does and donts.

                                          3.      The forum display on my PC occupies only 50% of the sceeen width. One of very few web pages that still do this.

                                          4.      Do we really need to know the number of topics and reply’s?

                                          5.      The Topic subject line (light blue on yellow/white background has really poor colour vibration

                                          6.      The Topic and started by is very cluttered. Suggest delete “started by”

                                          7.      Last post. Suggest that is keep to indicating minutes up to an hour. Hours up to a day and day up to a week.

                                          8.      Recommend closing topics after a given period of time.
